The stages of producing moarragh copper frame

To produce a moarragh copper frame, at first the copper sheet should be cut in the desired size with a cutter and then its surface should be polished with a 100 or 120 emery to have a flat and smooth surface which prevents the copper surface from being oxidized. Then, its surface should be covered with a masking tape and then wood glue or metal glue. At the next stage, the moarraq pattern should be cut on the copper sheet by the help of a coping saw (2 or 0.2). then, without touching the letters, all glue should be removed from their surface and they should be placed on a piece of paper. To prevent oxidation, the clear coat should be sprayed on them. When the clear coat is dried, stick the letters on the infrastructure by using wood glue. Some parts of Isfahan morraq copper frames looks blue or green which became colorful by the help of Ammonium chloride solution which is called patinating.

To make patina, the copper should be cut to desired pieces and then the Ammonium chloride solution (water to Ammonium chloride ratio is 3/5) should be sprayed on them   several times. After each spray, the surface should be dried completely and then the solution should be sprayed again. The colors may look dark at first which is not important.
